Course Description: The health and safety course provides a direct and factual approach to health education that is practical, personal, and POSITIVE. Health topics include safety, substance abuse, life style choices, diseases including AIDS and other STD’s, nutrition, personal health, growth and development, building self-esteem and relationship skills. Also, a health requirement is taking Basic First Aid & Adult CPR course. By acquiring the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to a healthful life, students learn to take responsibilities for their own health.
(Instruction in anatomy, reproduction, STD’s/HIV/AIDS will be provided to students in this course. Should you have any questions or wish to personally preview any of the materials, please contact your child’s health teacher. As required by state law, parents have the option to exclude their child from human sexuality and HIV/AIDS lessons. If this is your wish, you must notify the principal in writing. It is our hope that parents and guardians will take this as an opportunity to discuss these topics with their children. Parents are the first to provide guidance to their child in these areas. We strive to thoughtfully and carefully enhance this guidance.)
